Start a Chapter

Starting a new TPSA chapter at your local High School is an exciting and daring adventure for your LPS program that prepares your students for success.

Who can be a member?

  • Any student enrolled in a Texas School in the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grades.
  • Any faculty member employed at a Texas School.
  • Any person serving on the Board of Directors, Executive Council, Regional Representatives, or Organization Staff. Any person who does not meet the above qualifications is prohibited from serving in an advisor capacity at any TPSA activity.

Where do I start?

  • Start a Student Organization at your school and communicate what TPSA is and how it benefits students to your school administration.
  • Follow the Chapter Checklist to register and establish your organization with TPSA.
  • For questions, reach out to your regional representative.

New Chapter Checklist

  1. Create a New Chapter
  2. You will recieve an email with instructions on accessing myTPSA.
  3. Login to myTPSA to manage your chapter membership.
  4. Go to your roster and start building your first quote, don't forget to add yourself to the quote!
  5. Any member (advisor/student) added/updated will receive an email link to complete participation agreements/releases online. If email is unavailable, an agreement can be located through myTPSA on the member's profile. (Members under 18 years will need their legal guardian to complete the form on their behalf.)
  6. Convert your quote to an invoice and then remit payment. Once a quote is converted to an invoice, it is locked, and new members will be added to a new quote.
  7. Remit payment by paying by Check or Card at https://tpsa.info/pay. Make sure to include a copy of your invoice with your payment. School districts that opt to include payment for multiple chapters without an included invoice will experience a delay in the processing of their payment.

Returning Chapters

  1. Login to myTPSA
  2. Archive/Graduate your students that will not be members this year
  3. Go to your roster and start building your first quote, don't forget to add yourself to the quote!

Fire PSA Submission Insrtuctions

If you have competitors in the Fire Service Public Service Announcement event, please read and review the below instructions on how to submit the PSA videos prior to the conference. This is a prepared event. There is no in-person presentation at the conference. All video entries are judged prior to the competition per the guidelines. Submission Timeline Specific deadlines with exact dates/times are available in myTPSA Opens: The day following the close of late registration. Closes: 7 days prior to the first day of the conference. Submission Instructions Ensure all entries are uploaded before the submission window closes. Once the window is closed, no more submissions will be accepted. Video files must be uploaded by the advisor through myTPSA: Navigate to the specific Conference page in myTPSA. Select "Submissions" in the navigation bar. Review the specific upload requirements and exact deadlines listed within the portal.

Drone Events

Guidelines for this year's drone events have been finalized and published. We apologize for the delay in releasing this information so close to the start of Regional Conferences. There are two separate exhibition events available this year, both are available at regional conferences and the state conference: XRDS Drone Search and Rescue (Scored) XSDN Drone NIST (Timed) Participation & Registration Chapter Limit: Each chapter may submit one (1) team of two (2) students for each event. Exhibition Status: These events do not count toward the standard two-competition limit per student. How to Register: Students must be registered in myTPSA. Select "XRDS Drone Search and Rescue" or "XSDN Drone NIST" in the competition section. State Conference: Qualification is not required for the State Conference. There is no advancement process based on Regional placement or scores. Registration for these events at State is open to all chapters. Mandatory Requirements Certification: Competitors must be FAA TRUST Certified (free). Advisors must upload these certificates for team members prior to arriving at the competition. Equipment: Teams must bring their own drones. Specific requirements are detailed in the newly published event guidelines.
